printer is loseing all memory of backlog online printing?

printer was shut off for a sec..then back on again. Yet, there is no readable lang. to the cont. printing of back log listing of printing to be done. Just simbles and signs. then stops after three lines with output of blank paper and will cont. to do this until we shut it off again..
By curiousity, why would you want to keep record of all that was printed?
I don’t recall a business that rely on printer’s memory to saves document. You either use a file cabinet or use the computer’s harddrive to saves all your document. I know printer may have storage memory but for what purposes? You may print a 1GB worth of printing but why use it to save it in there?
