The Method: There is a frame where the material that needs to be printed upon, has to be secured. Paint is applied on this material through a screen. The desired design has to be converted into a stencil where the parts that have to be coloured will be cut out. Now the stencil is placed between the screen and the material.

Paint is applied through the screen to create a very sharp edged imprint on the printable material. After this a roller is drawn across and through the screen mesh which spreads the colour evenly in the design on the printed surface.

The Benefits:  

• Screen printing does not apply pressure on the printable surface, during printing.

• This technique is applicable over a wide variety of surfaces. Unlike some other forms of printing, screen printing does not require a strictly plane surface for printing. As such, it can be used for various types of surfaces, like round or curved. This makes it highly adaptable in all kinds of industries.

• It uses stencils for transferring the designs to the printable surfaces. This gives the artist or the printer a lot of flexibility in creating designs. The designs can be photocopied or printed on the stencils and then the parts to be printed can be cut off. On the other hand an artist can also draw the design on the tracing stencil, keeping up his artistic ingenuity.

• This is a digital age and obviously its impact is also felt on all creative fields including printing. Although digital printing has a lot aft advantages but screen printing still easily overtakes it. Screen printing is a viably commercial process where the cost of production is cheap and affordable.

Customised products: Screen printing has made customising a vast variety of objects. This in turn is a very practical process of promoting a company or brand. A lot of t shirts, mugs and even hats are being customised today, along with many other commercial products. In fact custom printed hats and bags are the most interesting and obvious choices for brand promotion. 2) In spot color printing, the imprint charges are based on the number of colors used. Spot color printing is a process of screen printing using solid ink colors and half tones. Costs are cheaper when printing one color than multiple colors. Matching the color to specific PMS colors is optional and you will incur an additional charge per color.

3) Printing a picture on an item is possible. This technique, called four-color process, is a digital printing technique where a colored image is separated into four colors:cyan (blue), magenta (red), yellow and key (black) or popularly known as CMYK. Once the colors of the image are filtered and separated, they will be transferred to imprinting plates. The plates will then be used to print the four colors in such a way that they reproduce the original image on the item. However, a four-color process can only be used for white and light-colored items, unless an underbase is used. [ is this what you mean to say?]

4) An “underbase” is necessary when printing on dark items. Printing a light color directly onto a dark-colored item will change the appearance of that color.  For example, printing yellow on a light blue shirt will result in a greenish color.  To avoid this problem and have colors appear as expected, a white underbase is needed when printing on dark items., hence an underbase is required to print the correct color). The underbase is counted as one color and will incur an additional charge.

5) Screens are not stored for future use. After an order is completed, he screens are discarded. Reorders with the same imprint will incur the same fee again. Thus, it is better to place an order in bulk for all your expected future volume to avoid repeated screen charges of the same design.
